Remember the What and the Why

Life’s problems have a way of bogging us down and making us forget the truly important things in life.

We become so focused on the negative, the bad, on what’s not working that we let all the awesomeness be eclipsed by it. We either dismiss it or forget that which is going good, the tasks where we are progressing, and the gifts and the strengths we have. Why? All because we choose to believe more in the negative than in the positive. We make it more real than it has to be, for us.

Recently, I have been feeling this way.  Continue reading

The Nature Of Things: They change , they flow , we grow

How many times have we held on too tightly to things- relationships, jobs, our image of ourselves- all for the purpose that they should remain the same.

Why?

Because we don’t know what’s at the other end of that letting go.

Because we fear the emptiness out hands- we- will be in when we drop that thing.

Because we like our security and comfort.

Because change is scary. And uncertain. And some more scary. And a hell lota uncertain.

But so what?

Will you let things remain the same?

Insist that they remain the same? When their very nature is to change.

Fight against the flow of nature?

Close doors to a new and better life?

Don’t.

When you know inside that things have to change form, go with that knowledge.

When you know you have to take a leap of faith, jump. And the net will appear to cradle you and be the bridge to more love and joy.

When you feel the call of your heart to do something unconventional and unexpected, heed that call.

All this is Life calling you. Life beckoning you to give it a change to work magic and miracles. Life pulling you to your dreams and deepest joy.

Go with the nature of things. Be like water. Change, flow, and grow. That is the one formula to help you weather all of life’s storms.

Happy weekend!🙂

Magic, Swords, Ancient Languages, perilous adventures- what reading a fantasy book led me about learn about the mind and ourselves

Finally… Finally I got to place my hands on and devour one of the books I had been wanting to read since so long. I am a huuuuuge fan of the fantasy genre and any book having large doses of it along with interesting characters takes no time to steal my heart. Such was the case day before yesterday when I issued Eragon by Christopher Paolini from my local library.

To say that I loved it was an understatement. I adored it right down to its bones. The whole feel of the book and the setting and the journey captivated me. I found myself growing with Eragon and developing insights about the mind and the way I and most of us, think. Continue reading

What you choose to see is what you see

Great one liners that clearly tell the truth, sometimes hit you right in the head in the blink of an eye. This was one of them. I just happened to be inspired by a Note from the Universe, telling me to think of everything in terms of me just ‘getting closer, cooler, hotter, better, ‘badder’, and more awesome than before’. It certainly put a smile on my face🙂 And it also got me thinking of where I could apply that.

Failed attempts, I-never-got-around-to-doing-them things, each mistake, each slip up, each ‘I shouldn’t have!’, and each disappointment…in short wherever I perceived myself to have fallen short somehow…I can choose a new way to think about it. A way that makes me feel empowered, and bright, and powerful. cuz that baby is how I wanna feel😀

I can choose to be disheartened by my repeated, not-making-any progress tries at something or instead I can pat myself on the back for being so dedicated, smile, admit cheerfully this ain’t working and figure out a new strategy.

I can choose to cringe every time I remember a mistake I made or think of an instance which I am not proud of <like being rude to someone time and again for no reason> or I can take a deep breath, stop for a while, smile, see the lesson, and add it to my life as an inspiring lesson.

I can choose to curse those habits of mine that get me nowhere <for eg. deep and sometimes very-much- over thinking> or I can choose to own this trait of mine, see the other, not-very-often-noticed good side of it, smile, and then channel this habit into creating better, bigger, and empowering things <like an inspiring piece that uplifts me and anyone who reads it>

I can choose to compare myself to where the whole world ‘seems’ to be- better, smarter, more beautiful than me. Or I can choose to honor myself for once, see what I have and how far I have come, change my thoughts about myself, and smile🙂

I can choose to moan and complain about the petty things that went wrong today which I won’t remember a week from now. Or I can choose to notice and say ‘thank u’ for all the good things that did go right- awesome even and then smile some more <thank you so much for a post that I am enjoying writing and sharing😀 >

I can choose to dismiss my talents and gifts by never taking time to find out what they are and then bringing them to life. Or I can choose to see the value in me, the genius I possess, and be brave and willing enough to nurture them, smile and make them a part of my daily life.

I can choose to add more negativity to the world by cribbing and moaning about all the negativity that’s there already. Or I can choose to create new love, more love, smile, and add my own sunshine to the world. Leave things better than I found them. Be the love that I wish to see and feel.

I can choose to be a force of fear, or one of love- in my own life and others.

The choice is always up to me. What I choose from there on, shapes the thoughts I think, I actions I take, the things I do, and ultimately, the life I create for myself.

I choose LOVE. I always want to choose love. Even when it seems hard. Even when fear or hate seem the easier path. Even when I am challenged beyond my comfort zone.

I want Love to be the queen of my days. So it only makes sense to make choices that favor this desire of mine.

I hope you’ll make the same choice in your life- howsoever that looks for you.

Peace and love to you always🙂

Now what will you choose today?
